This self build project was constructed in 140mm timber frame with a warm roof in 120mm Cellotex insulation, as the 1st floor accommodation was fully within the chalet roof pitch.
Working as project managers from the feasibility stage, we arranged and co-ordinated the architectural design through to a successful planning permission and subsequently the construction of the completed project. This involved specifying requirements, providing and organising the individual subcontractors and purchasing client supplied materials, utilising a Zurich 10 year insurance warrantee and local authority building control.
The project comprised of the erection of a single detached dwelling on a small brown field site in a hillside close in Kent, where the previous house had already been demolished. The external facades were finished in brick and clay tile hanging to first floors and gables, with a clay tile roof, inglenook fireplace and gas boiler under floor heating throughout. The design incorporated a sunroom off the kitchen, lounge, four bedrooms, two baths and detached garage.
